Women at the center of the movement in Manipur

All the movements that have taken place in Manipur so far Women have been at its center. The first movement in the state took place in , which has been named Nupi Lan movement. In which the British had made a rule for men to work for free 35 days after 35 days. . Against which women opened a front. Women protested till the office of British officer Maxwell. Being forced, the British had to withdraw their order. Similarly, there was a movement in , in which women protested against sending large quantities of rice out of Manipur. About 4 thousand women opened a front against this order of Maharaj. Maharaj was forced to withdraw his order. In 1970 and 2004 too, the women of Manipur did vigorous agitation.
