Protest to Congress MLAs
Basavaraj Bommai government’s decision to unveil Veer Savarkar’s portrait in the Karnataka Assembly, as per media reports Several Congress MLAs, including the former Chief Minister of the state and Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, Siddaramaiah, protested against it. In a letter written to the Assembly Speaker, Siddaramaiah also demanded to put pictures of Maharishi Valmiki, Basavanna, Kanak Das, Baba Saheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar, Sardar Vallabhbhai Petal and other great men.
Photos of national leaders and social reformers should also be displayed: Siddaramaiah
Leader of Opposition in Karnataka Assembly Siddaramaiah said on Monday that this is not a protest . It is our demand that portraits of all national leaders and social reformers should be installed in the Karnataka Assembly Hall. The Assembly Speaker has taken a unilateral decision to put Veer Savarkar’s picture in the Assembly. He said that I am not against putting anyone’s picture. The government wants to divert the attention of the people from the real issues like law and order.
Government wants to disrupt the assembly proceedings
Whereas, Karnataka Congress Speaker and MLA DK Shivakumar accused the Bommai government of the state of obstructing the proceedings of the assembly through such steps. DK Shivakumar said that he wants that the proceedings of the assembly should take place. They want to disrupt it. This picture has been put up so that the proceedings of the assembly could not run smoothly. The reason for this is that we are going to raise many issues of corruption against him. They do not have any agenda of development.

Meanwhile, Union Coal Minister Pralhad Joshi, outside the Parliament House in Delhi, on the opposition’s protest against the installation of Veer Savarkar’s portrait in the Karnataka Assembly, said that there should be ideological differences But Savarkar is a freedom fighter. He was hurt by putting Veer Savarkar’s picture. Ask Siddaramaiah whose poster should be put up there, that of Dawood Ibrahim? Their problem is the politics of appeasement, due to which the country has reached this situation today.
