Ujjain Mahakal Holi: Holi was first celebrated in the country in the courtyard of Baba Mahakal located in Ujjain. To Baba Mahakal in Bhasma Aarti on Monday morning 06 Holi was fed by the priests with quintal flowers and this Rangotsav was inaugurated. According to tradition, in the evening aarti, Holika Dahan was performed with chanting of mantras in the Mahakal temple premises after applying abir, herbal gulal to Baba. The priests played Holi of flowers. Devotees who reached the temple premises also played a lot of Gulal.
