MP Shahdol Two goods trains collided: A railway employee was killed and five others injured in a derailment incident after a moving goods train collided with a stationary goods train in Shahdol district of Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday. Done Shahdol’s District Collector Vandana Vaidya told that one of the railway personnel injured in the goods train accident has died. The condition of two of the five other injured is critical and they are undergoing treatment at the local Government Medical College, he said.

Railway sources told that the deceased 45 year old man was the loco pilot of a standing goods train. An official of South East Central Railway said that due to signal overshoot, the incident occurred near Singhpur station at around 6 am 8429. happened on the minute due to which the traffic on the Bilaspur-Katni rail route was disrupted. Singhpur Railway Station comes under Bilaspur Railway Division. Katni is located in Madhya Pradesh and Bilaspur in neighboring Chhattisgarh. He said that at least 185 running on this route Trains have been cancelled.

The official said that in this incident eight coaches and one engine of the moving goods train loaded with iron ore derailed. The South East Central Railway official had earlier told that six railway personnel, including two loco pilots, were injured in the incident. According to sources, efforts are on to restore rail traffic and relief operations are underway.
