Actor-cum-politician Kamal Haasan will campaign in favor of EVKS Elangovan of the secular progressive alliance led by Tamil Nadu’s ruling party Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) in the Erode East Assembly bypoll today i.e. on Sunday. ,This is the first time since the establishment of the party in 2020 on its own Haasan’s Makkal Nidhi Maiyam (MNM), which has contested all types of elections including the assembly elections of Supporting other party.

All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK)’s KKS Thennarasu is contesting against Congress leader Elangovan, while Seeman’s name Tamizhar Katchi and actor Vijayakanth’s Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) candidates are also in the fray.

According to the itinerary released by MNM, Haasan will address election meetings at five places today i.e. on Sunday. The Congress candidate and father of the late Thirumahan Eivera had earlier met Haasan and sought his support following which the MNM decided to support the former state president Elangovan. This seat has become vacant due to the death of Evera. On which the election is being conducted.
