Today was a very special day for lakhs of women in Karnataka. State CM Siddaramaiah gave free bus tickets to many women while implementing Shakti Yojana from today. Under this scheme, all women will get free bus travel facility in Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) and other corporations. State Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar was also present on this special occasion along with CM Siddaramaiah.

Direct target on BJP On the launch of the free bus travel scheme, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah also targeted the BJP fiercely. He said that in the first state 24 percent women used to travel in buses, but during the previous BJP government this number decreased percent was left. He said that the BJP people did not want women to come out of their houses. No fare will have to be paid for the journey up to kilometer.
