After the sentence of one year, his membership of the Lok Sabha has also been cancelled. The Congress party has said that it is against the conviction and disqualification of Rahul Gandhi. Political and legal battles will be fought. After disqualification, Rahul Gandhi will not be able to contest elections for eight years, until the upper court stays his conviction and sentence. Targeting the government on this issue, the Congress said that it is a ‘black day for Indian democracy’. He said that the battle would be fought both ‘legally and politically’.
