Punjab: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said on Sunday that Khalistan supporters are getting financial help from Pakistan and other countries. This statement of Maan has come in the background of the recent activities of pro-Khalistan Amritpal Singh and his associates. Without revealing any concrete strategy to deal with Khalistani elements, Mann, who is in Gujarat to attend an event, said that the Punjab Police is capable of dealing with the issue and only a few people are supporting the pro-Khalistan movement in Punjab.
”a handful of people behind it” When asked about the pro-Khalistan slogans raised in the state after the Singh episode, Mann said, “Do you think 1, People (who are known as Khalistan supporters have been seen raising slogans) represent the whole of Punjab? You come to Punjab and see for yourself who is raising such slogans?” He was addressing a press conference after attending a mass wedding program in Gujarat’s Bhavnagar city. Maan said, “There are only a handful of people behind this who run their shops with money received from Pakistan and other countries.”
Why do drones sent from Pakistan come to Punjab only? The Chief Minister said, “Rajasthan, though shares a huge border with Pakistan, why do drones (sent from Pakistan) come to Punjab and not Rajasthan? Because their (Khalistani elements) masters are sitting there (in Pakistan) and they want to trouble Punjab, but we will not let them succeed.” Referring to the recent act of Khalistani sympathizer Amritpal Singh and his supporters carrying a copy of the Guru Granth Sahib inside a police station in Ajnala, on the outskirts of Amritsar, Mann said the Sikh holy book was being carried into the police station as a shield. cannot be called the heirs of Punjab.”
The Chief Minister of Punjab termed the incident as minor! The Punjab chief minister downplayed the incident and dismissed Singh’s alleged threat of more violence in the coming days. He said, “This is an imaginary casserole. Punjab has seen such dark days in the past as well. Punjab Police is capable of dealing with them and we will not let them disturb the peaceful atmosphere.”
