Indian Navy is preparing to buy three diesel powered attack submarines being built in collaboration with France. For this, the Navy can soon contact the Defense Acquisition Council (DAC). According to the information, based on the specific requirements of the Indian Navy, the contract for the construction of three AIP submarines will be given to MDL. DRDO will develop AIP fitted in submarines The AIP fitted in the three submarines will be developed by DRDO. The French Naval Group will test it. After testing, this AIP will be installed in submarines. India, in collaboration with France, is looking to upgrade its submarine fleet with three nuclear-powered conventional weapon-armed submarines. Exercise to include the submarine in the warship at the earliest The decision to acquire nuclear attack submarines may take procedural time.
