The top police officer said that the state police has equipment in good condition. He said, “Every year it is a practice to critically audit all the equipment used by the police department. Tamil Nadu State Police Department has equipment in good condition. We have also sent our team to neighboring states to help .” The police officer also pointed out that the security personnel deployed for the incident did not send any information regarding the security breach and said, “The SPG did not send any information on the security lapses. Verbally they say the program was good. REQUESTS TO START INVESTIGATION OF SECURITY BLOWS His remarks came after Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai met Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi on Tuesday and during PM Narendra Modi’s visit to the state to inaugurate the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Chess Olympiad event requested to initiate an inquiry into the alleged security lapse. ‘Metal Detector not in working condition’ According to Annamalai, the metal detectors were not in working order. He said, “The metal detectors were not working well. They were all in poor condition, some were not even in working condition.” Urging the chief minister to take necessary action at the earliest, he said, “The Tamil Nadu government should take necessary action against the officials who were in charge of the security.”
