People are protesting against the government. They allege that they are not being given proper compensation. Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami’s office said, Following the instructions given by the CM, an amount of Rs 1.5 lakh is being given as interim assistance to the affected families on an immediate basis. The local people who have been affected by the landslide will be given compensation at the market rate.

The victims say that due to the rains in Joshimath, the problem will increase further due to water going inside the earth through these cracks.
