Odisha Rail Accident, Coromandel Accident : Coromandel Express and Bengaluru-Howrah Express train derailed in Odisha’s Balasore district on Friday evening. More than two hundred people died in the tripartite gruesome train accident involving the derailment and collision of a goods train. The railway official said that first, several coaches of the Howrah-bound Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express derailed at Bahanaga Bazar and fell onto another track. These derailed coaches collided with the Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express and its coaches also overturned.
The coaches of the Coromandel Express collided with a goods train coming from the opposite direction after derailing. The collision was so strong that many coaches of the Coromandel Express were derailed. Many coaches of the goods train also got derailed. After the incident, there was a cry of the injured passengers. The local people first came forward to save the people trapped in the derailed coaches. NDRF teams also reached the spot. Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav and inquired about the accident and rescue work.
