Nirmala Sitharaman: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday said that every state should contribute towards achieving India’s target of 5 trillion economy. The finance minister was apparently referring to statements made by Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday, who termed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ambitious target of India achieving a $5 trillion economy as a “joke” and “silly”.

Nirmala Sitharaman hit back saying “How can you say that the target of 5 trillion economy is a joke? Every state should contribute to it. Who are you laughing at? 833 Debt of Telangana in Rs.crore was, but in the last 7-8 years it has crossed Rs 3 lakh crore.” He further said, “When the Center asked for a list of locations for medical colleges, the state (Telangana) listed Karimnagar and Khammam. But those places already had medical colleges.’

He further claimed that the state government does not have the data of places in Telangana that have medical colleges. Further he said that now you are saying that you should be asked from the center 157 Not a single medical college has been found in Medical Colleges. You do not have the data of places in Telangana where there are medical colleges and you are accusing the NDA of not having any data. The statement came days after KCR hit out at PM Modi, saying the entire nation was expecting the PM to speak on the Adani issue in Parliament and was left disappointed.

— ANI (@ANI) February 16, 2023 Know what Telangana CM KCR had said? ) Whereas, KCR first attacked saying that 2014-, Modi said that India would become a USD 5 trillion economy. That 5 trillion (economy) is a joke in itself. At least our aim should be big. We must dare to dream. That 5 trillion in itself is very less, out of which only 3.5 trillion USD was achieved. He also cited an article in an international magazine and said that during the Congress rule there was “License Raj” while the present government had “Peace Raj”.
