Parents send their children to school so that they can become something after being educated and bring laurels to the country, but the reality of government schools in Madhya Pradesh is something else. Cases of children being made to work from different government schools of the state have come to the fore. Students who should have pen and book in their hands, are being made to do work like cleaning, washing utensils and sweeping the schools. Recently, the case of students being made to work has come to the fore from Shahdol district, whose video is going viral.

Child labor is being made to the girl students in the government primary school under Budhar development block of Shahdol. Here the teachers have ordered the students to keep water filled every day before going to the class. The school children are following the words of their teachers literally and every day they are bringing water in heavy buckets from the government hand pump located at some distance from the school. The weight of the bucket is more than the weight of the girl students, in such a situation, if the bucket of water falls, then the girls may also get hurt, but careless teachers do not care. It is being told that no peon has been appointed in the school, so the work of the peon is being done from the girl students only.

Students washing dishes in the sea The condition is not of any one government school in Madhya Pradesh, but the condition of every school in the rural areas is similar. Sometime back a video of Government New Secondary School Samnapur Khurd under Deori block of Sagar district had come to the fore. Here, the issue of children washing the mid-day meal utensils came to the fore. In the school, Anjali Self Help Group has been given the contract to make mid-day meal, but the Self Help Group has not appointed any utensil cleaning lady, due to which the children are forced to clean the utensils themselves after having lunch.

Girls sweeping the harvest
Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan may call the daughters of the state as his nieces, but the teachers of government schools consider them as Kamwali Bai. That’s why every day before the school starts, they are getting the girl students to do work like cleaning the school. In Katni district’s Pilonji secondary school, a case of sweeping by girl students had come to the fore, when its video went viral and the matter reached the Collector, Collector Avi Prasad issued show cause notices to three people and asked them to present an explanation on the whole matter. The collector had issued show cause notices to BRC Manoj Gautam, headmaster Dhaniram Bhumia and teacher Maujilal Patel.
