There was a deadlock for the last two-three months. Once even the forest post was looted. Now the forest encroachers have vowed to save the forest along with the police-administration. Burhanpur district was in discussion for the last few months regarding the encroachers. In a few days, more than half a dozen encounters have taken place in Ghagharla and surrounding forests, where the police and forest department have been stopped by the encroachers. These encroachers encircled the range office of the forest, injured the forest staff and rescued the arrested comrades from there. After this, the police and forest staff had also made up their mind to take major action against the encroachers. However, the police and the administration were constantly trying to explain that there should be no encroachment in the forests. On Monday, hundreds of forest encroachers from Ghagharla and nearby 415 villages abandoned arrows and slings and surrendered to the administration.
