Case Year 2022 belongs to. CA SS Mundra took a bribe of nine lakh rupees from the operator of the packaging firm and gave it to Income Tax Commissioner Pankaj Gupta. Income Tax Officer Ajay Veere also helped in this work. Actually Gupta had surveyed the packaging firm. The arrears of lakh were found in the record. The whereabouts of the firm were also investigated, but later money pressure was created to hush up the matter. To hide this tax evasion of the firm, a bribe of nine lakh rupees was taken. Later, when the file of the firm was opened again, the matter came to the fore and the CBI filed a charge sheet in the court in the year 2009. After the hearing, the court found both the Income Tax officer and the CA guilty of taking bribe and sentenced them to three years each. Apart from this, he was punished with a fine of 12 thousand. Failure to deposit the fine will also result in one year rigorous imprisonment. ,
