While talking about the incident, officials said that earlier, at around 1 am on Tuesday late night, armed miscreants surrounded Kuki village of Khamenlok area bordering Imphal East district and Kangpoki district and started the attack. In the firing that followed, people from both sides became casualties. The area lies near the borders of the Meitei-dominated Imphal East district and the tribal-dominated Kangpokpi district. Meanwhile, the district authorities have reduced the curfew relaxation hours in Imphal East district and Imphal West district. Earlier this relaxation was from 5 am to 6 pm, but now it has been changed from 9 am to 6 pm. Curfew is in force in 11 out of 16 districts of Manipur, while internet services remain suspended.
