Arun Gandhi considered himself a Hindu, but he was a man of universal thought. Arun Gandhi worked closely with Christian priests and his philosophy was heavily influenced by Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim and Christian concepts. Like his grandfather, he too believed in the concept of 'Ahimsa'. Arun Gandhi met nurse Surananda in a hospital and married her in 1957.
