Usha recalled how her daughter, who had settled in Visakhapatnam after her marriage, was planning to come home. Another resident of the ward, Suraj Kapruwan, is busy packing his belongings to shift to the government-provided accommodation, but is at a loss as to what to leave behind. He said, “We have been living here for years. Our livelihood depends on this town. Initially, we thought these hairline cracks were nothing. It is shocking that they are growing at such a fast pace. “I shifted my children and other family members to a safer place two days ago. I don’t know how this house will exist.’
