Dismissing the petition, High Court Justice Vishal Dhagat has said in his order that surveillance action can be taken against a person of suspicious and wrong character. The police cannot be deprived of its power. Tell that the petition was filed on behalf of Sajid alias Sajju, a resident of Junnardeo tehsil of Chhindwara district. It said that in the year 2007 his name was entered in the surveillance register of the police station on the orders of the Superintendent of Police. He has not been punished by the court for any offence. As per the police manual and regulation, surveillance action is taken by the state government against conditionally released person, convicted person and ex-criminal and person of wrong character. Relief was sought in the petition to stay the ongoing surveillance proceedings against him. Opposing the petition on behalf of the government, it was told that it is feared that the petitioner is involved in many crimes of theft and land grabbing. Removal proceedings have been initiated against him. The activities of the petitioner are a threat to social peace and security. The single bench, citing Justice GP Singh’s order, said that the police can take surveillance action against a person of bad character. Dismissing the petition, the single bench said that the police cannot be deprived of its powers. ,
