Ahmedabad : Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) Chairman S Somnath said on Thursday that India’s first manned space flight The first aborted mission for ‘Gaganyaan’ will be conducted at the end of August this year, while the unmanned mission in orbit will be sent next year. Speaking on the sidelines of an event at the Physical Research Laboratory (PRL) in Ahmedabad, he said the test vehicle is ready at Sriharikota and assembly of the crew module and crew ‘escape system’ has also begun.
Ready to take off from Sriharikota Is the new rocket
When asked about the latest information about Gaganyaan, S. Somnath said that the first and foremost thing for Gaganyaan is that The canceled mission should be carried to the end. For that, we have made a new rocket named Prashyam Vahan, which is ready in Sriharikota. The assembly of the crew module and crew escape system is currently under preparation.
Launch will happen by end of August
S Somnath said that therefore I have been informed that by the end of this month it will be ready for full functional testing, vibration testing etc. So we are hoping that at the end of August we will be able to launch the crew on this aborted mission. After that the mission will be repeated with different abort conditions. This is planned for this year. He added that as part of the project unmanned missions to orbit would take place as early as next year.
Unmanned mission will start in
Somnath said that early next year we will have an unmanned mission in orbit and from there it has to be brought back safely, which will be the third mission . For the time being, we have set these three missions. Somnath is also serving as the Secretary of the Department of Space. When asked about the major challenges of this mission, the ISRO chief said that the safety of the crew members is the most important aspect in the Gaganyaan project.
Crew safety paramount
He said that since humans will be part of the mission, the safety of the crew becomes paramount. For this we are doing two more additional things. One is called the Crew Escape System. This means that if an emergency occurs in the rocket, the system should be activated. The second is the Integrated Vehicle Health Management System. He said that ‘crew escape’ is a traditional engineering solution, in which the computer detects (the fault) and tells the propulsion system to launch, so that you (the crew) can get away. He said that the second system is more intelligent which takes informed decisions without any human intervention.

He said you need to develop such systems Also need to be tested together, to be sure they will work without a doubt. So in the Gaganyaan program, we will not go into the final mission without knowing how prepared we are for it. Indian Space Agency Chairman Somnath Param Vikram-1000, was at PRL to inaugurate a High Performance Computing (HPC) facility or a supercomputer.
