India’s first indigenously built aircraft carrier INS Vikrant (IAC-1) was inducted into the Navy fleet in September. About 23, crore rupees were spent on this aircraft carrier. People aware of the issue say the cost of building the IAC-2 is a major point of discussion as one view in the defense establishment is that the Navy should 50,000 should focus on increasing its fleet of submarines instead of spending crores of rupees.
