According to the report, China had stated that the hydropower project is on the ‘run of the river’ (with the flow of the river) and does not involve water sharing of the Brahmaputra river. However, a parliamentary committee expressed apprehensions that water could be stored in ponds and released to run turbines, which could cause some problems.
