Falling apple prices, demand for medical college and support to tourism have emerged as major election issues in Kullu region, from where 35 Member Four MLAs are represented in the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly . Growers say rising costs due to high prices of fertilisers, pesticides and lack of government support have made apple farming a loss-making deal. The economy of the Kullu region is dependent on tourism and horticulture and has four assembly seats namely Manali, Kullu Sadar, Banjar and Ani.
