A large number of people came out of their homes to celebrate New Year’s Eve in Mumbai. As the day progressed, thousands of people gathered at the Gateway of India, Marine Drive and Girgaum Chowpatty beach in South Mumbai. In the suburbs, many people reached the beaches of Bandra, Madh Island and Marve. The BMC illuminated important structures and buildings in the city like the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus and the Gateway of India on Saturday. Hotels, bars and restaurants were completely full. Whereas, a huge crowd was also seen near the people selling food and drink items on the street. More policemen have been deployed.
