Let us tell you that in the last few months there has been a sudden increase in the cases of flu in the country. Most of the infections are due to H3N2 virus, also known as “Hong Kong Flu”. This virus is causing more hospitalizations than other influenza subtypes in the country.

Symptoms of this virus include persistent cough, fever, chills, shortness of breath and wheezing, as well as complaints of nausea, sore throat, body ache and diarrhea are also being seen by the patients. Let you know, these symptoms can last for about a week.

ICMR advised to take precautions

According to experts, the virus is highly contagious and spreads through coughing, sneezing and close contact with an infected person. Doctors have advised Covid-like precautions including washing hands regularly and wearing masks. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has urged covering the mouth and nose while sneezing and coughing, drinking plenty of fluids, avoiding touching the eyes and nose, and paracetamol for fever and body aches
