The party has said that the Government of India should strongly take up this issue with Canada. This is not a matter of taking sides, but of respect for the history of the nation and the pain caused by the assassination of the former Prime Minister. Extremism must be universally condemned and combated together.
Reaction of the High Commissioner of Canada
Cameron McKay, who is the High Commissioner of Canada in India, has reacted to the matter.He has tweeted about the matter. Cameron wrote on his Twitter wall that he was shocked by the news of an event in Canada, in which the assassination of the late Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was celebrated. There is no place in Canada for the glorification of hatred or violence. I unequivocally condemn these activities.
It may be noted that 91 October, 916 the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was shot dead by her bodyguards.
