The government should have allocated more funds for improving the state’s transport, communication and energy infrastructure, which would have helped boost the economy and generate more employment opportunities. Additionally, there is a need to focus on building sustainable infrastructure, which will help the state in the long run. Similarly, while the Madhya Pradesh budget has made commendable efforts to improve the quality of education in the state, more could have been done in terms of providing basic amenities like mid-day meals and better school infrastructure. These facilities are necessary to promote the attendance of children in schools and reduce drop-out rates. Income tax could be reduced by increasing the income tax exemption limit for the common man or by introducing more tax deductions and credits for certain expenses such as health care and education. More measures could have been included to enhance the benefits of public welfare schemes, such as food security programmes, health care schemes and social security schemes. The government could have increased the allocation of funds to these programmes, and improved their implementation so that they effectively reach the intended beneficiaries. Overall, addressing the concerns of the common man would have helped the budget achieve more equitable and inclusive growth.
