After the announcement of the results, Prime Minister Narendra Modi attributed the continuous victory of the BJP in various elections including the North East to the ‘Triveni’ of the party’s governments, their work culture and the dedication of the party workers. For the BJP, however, winning as junior ally in Nagaland and Meghalaya is also a success of sorts. At the same time, the results were not good for the Congress which was in power in both the states in the past. In Meghalaya, the Congress won five seats while in Nagaland the party did not get a single seat.
