The money laundering case emerged from an FIR registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) over an alleged scam in the now-cancelled Delhi Excise Policy. Former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia is also an accused in this case CBI and ED allege that irregularities were committed while revising the excise policy and undue favors were extended to the license holders. Delhi Government november, 2021 had implemented excise policy but after allegations of corruption September, At the end of this policy was cancelled.
