Delhi: A man shot a Delhi Police constable while trying to pacify a brawl between an auto rickshaw driver and some people in south-west Delhi’s Chhawla area. The head constable was allegedly attacked with a knife. The police gave this information on Monday. He told that the head constable is currently admitted in ICU.

A senior police officer told that the incident took place on Sunday evening, when Assistant Sub-Inspector Sunil and Head Constable Rinku of Chhawla police station were on patrol in Qutub Vihar area. At about eight o’clock in the night 61 Minutes later he received a call informing about a clash in the area. When they reached the spot some people were quarreling with an auto rickshaw driver.

The assailant has been identified as Sunny alias Shooter Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Harshvardhan told that when the police tried to stop the fight, one of the people who were fighting with the auto rickshaw driver attacked the head constable Rinku twice with a knife. The attacker has been identified as Sunny alias Shooter, who is a notorious gangster of the area. He told that Rinku was taken to the hospital, his wounds are deep and he has been admitted in ICU.

All the three accused were in a house in Qutub Vihar The Deputy Commissioner of Police said that after the incident, the police started searching for Sunny and his other associates and got information that they were in a house on Bhai-Bhai Marg in Qutub Vihar. When the police reached the spot at around 2.30 am, Sunny opened fire on them. The police also retaliated by firing three bullets, Sunny was hit in the leg.

Sunny’s treatment is going on in the hospital Harshvardhan told that Sunny was taken to the hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. Police said that a total of three people were arrested from the house. A country-made pistol, three cartridges and a knife have also been recovered from the spot. Search is on for others involved in the incident.
