According to the information, the Chameli Saini murder case in Hata of Damoh district was very much discussed. The accused Bahadur Rai, resident of Hazari Ward Hata, was found guilty by the court for murdering Chameli Saini, setting the house on fire and looting the house. A woman named Chameli Saini lived in Hata’s Hazari ward. Accused Bahadur Rai had entered his house on the night of the incident with the intention of looting and stealing. Chameli woke up after hearing the sound of banging and saw the accused stealing. He also tried to stop the accused. During this both of them also had a scuffle. Due to this, Chameli Saini fell on the ground. That’s why the accused Bahadur took out clothes from the cupboard by putting his foot on his neck and put them on him. During the struggle, Chameli’s old mother Janaki Bai also woke up. When she came towards Chameli’s room, Bahadur assaulted her as well. Assuming the woman to be dead, the accused took out the jewelery from the cupboard and ran away after setting the room on fire. Old Janaki came out and informed the people of the locality. Jasmine had died due to burns in the fire. Chameli’s son Shailesh had lodged a complaint with the police. On which the police section 201, , 414, 436 and on the basis of the statements of Janki Bai arrested Bahadur and presented the charge sheet in the court. Agreeing with the evidence and arguments presented by the prosecution during the hearing of the case, the court convicted the accused Bahadur.
