बंदियों को जेल में काम करने के एवज में मेहनताना मिलता है। यह राशि जमा होती रहती है। इसमें से वे हर माह 1500 रुपये कैंटीन में सामान लेने में खर्च कर सकेंगे। यदि बंदी राशि जमा करने में सक्षम नहीं है तो उनके परिजन भी यहां कैंटीन से सामग्री उपलब्ध कराने के लिए 1500 रुपये हर माह जमा करा सकेंगे। कैंटीन से माह में अधिकतम चार बार सामग्री ली जा सकेगी। एक बार में अधिकतम 375 रुपये की सामग्री ली जा सकेगी। जिला जेल के जेलर सीएल प्रजापति का कहना है कि जेल विभाग के निर्देशानुसार कैंटीन तो शुरू होना है, लेकिन दमोह में स्टाफ की कमी के चलते अभी शुरू नहीं की जा सकेगी। इसमें कुछ समय लगेगा।
