The threat of Cyclone Mocha has started looming over Bengal and Odisha. Meteorologists are seeing the formation of cyclonic circulation conditions in the southeast Bay of Bengal as the possibility of a cyclonic storm in the region next week.

Director General of India Meteorological Department (IMD) Mrityunjay Mohapatra Said, the condition of a cyclonic circulation is forming in the lower and middle tropospheric levels over the Bay of Bengal and southeast. Due to its effect, a low pressure area is expected to form in the same area by May 8. He said that after the formation of a low pressure area, information about the path and intensity of the possible cyclone would be made available later. Mohapatra said that around May 9, a low pressure area is likely to form in the southeast of the Bay of Bengal and turn into a cyclonic storm.

The cyclone was named by Yemen, fishermen were advised to return before May 9

The cyclone will be named ‘Mocha’ (Mokha), a name suggested by Yemen. The Meteorological Office has issued a warning to fishermen in the southeast Bay of Bengal from Sunday. – Wind has been warned at the speed of kilometer per hour. People who are in southeast Bay of Bengal are advised to return to safer places before May 7 and those in central Bay of Bengal before May 9, the weather office said. Possibility of heavy rains

According to IMD, warnings of heavy rain and thunderstorm have been issued in several districts of Odisha including Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack and Puri.
