Corona In India: The first case of XBB.1.5 sub-variant of Omicron of Corona has come to light in India. Based on the data of Insacog, this case has been found in Gujarat. XBB.1.5 is a sub-variant flagged by international scientists to be responsible for the Covid cases and hospitalizations in New York. XBB itself is a recombinant of two different BA.2 sub-variants from Omicron. But its descendant, XBB.1.5, is thought to have a tighter binding to the ACE2 receptor, which according to American scientist Eric Topol would explain its higher degree of transmissibility.
