In the Modi surname case, the Supreme Court heard a petition by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi challenging the Gujarat High Court order refusing to stay his sentence in a criminal defamation case, in which he was sentenced to two years in prison by a Surat court. Earthquake tremors were felt in Rajasthan’s capital Jaipur and Manipur on Friday. Earthquake tremors of 4.4 magnitude were felt in Jaipur. At the same time, tremors of 3.4 magnitude were felt in Manipur. Panicked people came out of their homes as soon as the tremors were felt in many parts of Jaipur at around 4 am. According to the National Center for Seismology, the earthquake in Jaipur occurred at 4:09 am with a depth of about 1 kilometer.
