Total 901 police personnel have been awarded Police Medal on the occasion of Republic Day. Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG) to 140, President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PPM) to 140 and Police Medal for Meritorious Service to ( (PM) has been awarded to . 140 Majority of the gallantry awards were given to personnel from Left Wing Extremism affected areas and from Jammu & Kashmir The personnel were awarded for their gallant action. Among the personnel who received gallantry awards 93 are from CRPF, 45 are from Maharashtra. 35 are from J&K Police, 9 are from Jharkhand, 7 are from Delhi, Chhattisgarh and BSF and the rest are from other States/UTs and CAPFs. ,
