Ban on boring in the capital – Photo: Social Media Expansion In view of the falling ground water level and water crisis in Bhopal, non-government and private tube wells / boring 414 is banned till June. In this regard, Bhopal Collector Ashish Singh issued orders on Saturday. Urban and rural areas of Bhopal district have been declared as water deficient areas. During this period, tubewells/boring machines will neither enter the revenue limits of the district without the permission of the concerned sub-divisional officer (except machines passing through public roads) nor will any new tubewell be mined without permission. The machines violating the order will be confiscated and FIR will be lodged in the police stations of the concerned area. However, the Sub-Divisional Officer will have the right to give permission for boring/tube well in necessary cases. This order will not be applicable on tubewell excavation under government schemes. On the other hand, in case of shortage of water in summer, private tube wells and other existing private water sources can be acquired under Section-4 of the Act for public drinking water system. Violation of the order is punishable with a fine of Rs 2,000 and imprisonment for two years or both. ,
