When asked whether Azad will dent Congress’ prospects with his DAP, Jairam Ramesh said that most of the workers and leaders who left Congress along with Ghulam Nabi have returned to the party. Asked if Azad could ever return to the Congress like his newly formed party colleagues have, Ramesh said, “I don’t know what Azad’s plans are.” I never thought even in my wildest dreams that he would actually leave the Congress. This is the party which gave him an identity for almost 50 years. He was given every possible position in the party and government including Chief Minister, Union Minister, Leader of Opposition, but I never thought that he would be Mir Jafar.
