Madhya Pradesh’s first sand plant is ready – Photo: Amar Ujala Expansion In Singrauli district, Miniratna Company of the Government of India, Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) on Friday CMD NCL Bhola Singh has dedicated to the nation the overburden sand manufacturing plant in Amlori project. On the other hand, CMD NCL present in the program said that this effort of NCL is an important step towards environmental betterment and this initiative towards business diversification of NCL will provide quality sand throughout the year. NCL is considering setting up such plants in its various projects in the coming times. This innovative initiative of NCL will be beneficial for all, the company, local stakeholders and the state government. CMD NCL said the role of NCL’s Amlori project and R&D development department of the headquarter was important in setting up this plant. NCL’s overburden sand manufacturing is inspired by the Government of India’s environmental and Waste to Wealth mission.
daily 1000 Production of cubic meter sand
NCL will make one thousand cubic meters of sand per day through this plant, for which Cubic meter surcharge will be applied. Thus NCL will produce about three lakh cubic meters of M-Sand annually. Maximum overload is available with NCL. NCL will make available the manufactured sand through e-auction, the price of which has been kept much lower than the sand available in the market. NCL has entered into MoU with MSTC Limited (Metal Scrap Trade Corporation Limited, a Miniratna Company under Ministry of Steel, Government of India) for e-Auction. With the establishment of this plant, employment will be created and the state government will get revenue. Dedicated to sustainable and long-term development, this step of NCL will reduce exploitation of natural sand from rivers and reduce soil erosion. Along with this, protection of aquatic ecosystem will be strengthened. This effort of NCL also reflects the ethical responsibility of the company towards the society and shows the commitment of the company to promote optimum utilization of natural resources. NCL is committed to meet the country’s energy needs with uninterrupted coal supply.
