People are in panic due to land subsidence and cracks in hundreds of houses in Joshimath, Uttarakhand. Many families there are being taken to a safer place. There are total 4,500 houses in Joshimath and out of these 610 huge cracks have developed, due to which they are not habitable. Chamoli District Magistrate (DM) Himanshu Khurana informed that Joshimath has been declared as a massive landslide prone area and more than affected families have been shifted to temporary relief centers . In view of the seriousness of the Joshimath case, a high-level meeting of the PMO was held on Sunday. In this, the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister reviewed the situation. The Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand informed the PMO about the situation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also worried about the Joshimath issue. He has taken stock of the situation with Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and has assured all possible help. Experts have termed the situation in Joshimath as a serious warning. Experts said that the land subsidence in Uttarakhand's Joshimath is mainly due to the Tapovan Vishnugarh hydroelectric project of the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) and it is a very serious warning that people are playing with the environment to such an extent That it would be difficult to restore the old status quo. He said that large-scale infrastructure development without any planning is making the Himalayan ecosystem more vulnerable to the effects of climate change. ,
