Meanwhile, senior CPI(M) leader Pabitra Kar rejected Deb’s allegations. He said that the opposition parties have come together not as a political alliance but under mutual understanding to restore democracy which was under threat under the BJP rule. He said that all BJP leaders including Chief Minister Manik Saha and his predecessor Biplab Kumar Deb are scared of our efforts, that’s why they are making such baseless allegations. Whereas, former President of Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Gopal Roy said that the six political parties have issued a joint statement urging all democratic and secular people to come forward to oppose the attacks on democracy.
