The period of ‘Chillai-Kalan’ is going on in Kashmir. It started on 30 December which continues till 40 day in which a considerable drop in temperature is recorded with the onset of cold wave in the Kashmir Valley. There is a strong possibility of snowfall during this period, especially in the high altitude areas, there is heavy snowfall. The period of ‘Chillai-Kalan’ will end on 30 January and after that ‘Chillai-Khurd’ of days will begin. Even in that, the cold wave will continue in the Kashmir Valley. Then there will be a period of ‘chillai bachcha’ of the day, then the cold will start decreasing in the valley.
