The name ‘Mormugao’ is named after the historic Goa port city on the west coast. Incidentally, this ship put to sea for the first time on December, 2021 and on this day marked the liberation of Goa from Portuguese rule 60 years were completed. The length of this warship is 163 meter, width 19 meter and weight is 7, 163 ton. The vessel is propelled by four powerful gas turbines. The vessel is capable of attaining a speed of over 60 knots. The warship is equipped with remote sensing equipment, advanced radar and weapon systems like surface-to-surface missiles and surface-to-air missiles.
