स्कंद पुराण के मुताबिक, आषाढ़ महीने में भगवान विष्णु के वामन अवतार की पूजा करने का विधान है। क्योंकि इस महीने के देवता भगवान वामन ही हैं। इसलिए आषाढ़ मास की दोनों एकादशी और द्वादशी तिथियों पर भगवान वामन की विशेष पूजा और व्रत करने की परंपरा है। वामन पुराण के मुताबिक आषाढ़ महीने के दौरान भगवान विष्णु के इस अवतार की पूजा करने से मनोकामनाएं पूरी होती हैं। संतान सुख मिलता है, जाने-अनजाने में हुए पाप और शारीरिक परेशानियां भी खत्म हो जाती हैं।
