Member Secretary of National Tiger Conservation Authority SP Yadav while talking about the increasing population of tigers said that it is a matter of pride that India has the largest population of tigers 2006 according to the first tiger estimate, 1,500 tiger (in India) and 1,2010 were tigers. In the year this number increased to 2,500. As per the minimum tiger population estimated for the year 2022, it is 3,37. This indicates healthy growth. Explaining further, he said that there are total 37 countries in the world where there are tiger ranges. The global tiger population is about 4,-4,37. Out of these there are 3, 500 tigers in India. This means, approximately 37 percent of the global tiger population is in India.
