Jabalpur High Court – Photo: Social Media Expansion In the contempt petition filed by Anand Tamarkar, a resident of Barasivni, it was said that encroachments are being made on the land of the main canal, due to which the form of the canal is getting smaller. Apart from this, the canal water is also getting contaminated due to filth. Due to encroachment, the way to reach the canal is also getting obstructed. People used to use canal water for daily day-to-day discussions. The existence of the canal is in danger due to encroachment and pollution. In this regard, he had given a representation to the District Collector. Due to no action on the representation, he filed a petition in the High Court. During the hearing of the petition, it was said on behalf of the government that action would be taken on the representation for sure. The High Court year while disposing of the petition, had said in its order to take action on the representation within the prescribed limit of three months. A contempt petition has been filed against the non-action even after six years of expiry of the prescribed time limit. While hearing the petition, the single bench has sought answers by issuing contempt notices to Collector Balaghat and SDM Barasivni. Advocate Rohit Pagwar appeared for the petitioner. ,
