Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the third session of a multi-stakeholder National Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (NPDRR) on Friday. The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) gave this information in a statement on Monday. The theme of the third session of NPDRR is "Building Local Resilience in a Changing Climate". According to the PMO, the theme was announced by the Prime Minister for building local capacities, especially in the context of rapidly changing disaster risk scenarios in the wake of climate change 06 - linked to the point agenda . The NPDRR consists of Union Ministers, State Disaster Management Ministers, Members of Parliament, heads of local self-government, heads of specialized disaster management agencies, academia, private sector organisations, media and representatives of civil society 674 Special guest included. NPDRR is a multi-stakeholder national forum headed by Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah. All stakeholders in this forum discuss and exchange views on ideas, practices and trends regarding Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR). Will help in mainstreaming disaster management practices: The Center will also help in mainstreaming disaster management practices among Union Territories, urban and rural local-self-government, educational institutions, NGOs, CSOs, PSUs and communities. Organized jointly by the Ministry of Home Affairs, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM), the NPDRR will consist of four plenary sessions, one ministerial session and eight thematic sessions. Special ministerial session will be held: A special ministerial session will be held under the chairmanship of Shah after the inauguration ceremony, Where the Ministers of the Center, States and Union Territories will deliberate on further strengthening the disaster risk reduction systems at various levels. Over the two days, subject matter experts, practitioners, academicians and delegates will deliberate on various identified critical issues on disaster risk reduction, based on the Sendai Framework on Disaster Risk Reduction and Prime Minister Modi's is based on the one-point agenda. The PMO said that prior to this programme, specific initiatives related to disaster risk management (eg, heat wave, coastal hazards, enhancing women's leadership in disaster risk management) have been held in the last two months in more than a dozen cities across the country.
