Five years jail for bribe taker Patwari - Photo: Amar Ujala Expansion Court of Special Judge Sudhanshu Sinha in Chhatarpur has punished bribe taker Patwari Gaurishankar Pathak with rigorous imprisonment of five years. It is being told that Patwari had taken a bribe of five thousand rupees in lieu of the demarcation of the plot, for which he was sentenced to five years rigorous imprisonment and has been sentenced to a fine of thousand. Advocate Lakhan Rajput told that the complainant Vijay Kumar Awasthi had on June 6 2015 had complained to the Lokayukta Police Sagar to the effect that Patwari Gaurishankar Pathak is demanding a bribe of Rs 5,000 from him for demarcation of the plot located in Rajnagar. The Lokayukta police gave a voice recorder to Vijay Awasthi and recorded the demand for bribe of Patwari, during the conversation the accused Gaurishankar Pathak talked about taking a bribe of five thousand rupees. 20 On June, the trap team left from Lokayukta Sagar and reached Rajnagar, where the complainant spoke to the accused. When contacted on the phone, the accused called the complainant to the Revenue Inspector's office, Rajnagar, the complainant went inside the Revenue Inspector's office and gave a bribe of five thousand rupees to the accused and indicated to the trap team. The trap team went inside and caught the accused Patwari Gaurishankar Pathak red-handed. After thorough investigation, the challan was presented in the court. On behalf of the prosecution, Special Public Prosecutor ADPO KK Gautam presented all the evidence and witnesses in the court while pleading and Demanded harshest punishment for the accused. The court of Special Judge Sudhanshu Sinha ruled that corruption by public servants has become a huge problem. Which is hollowing out the society. Corruption is shaking the very foundation of democracy and rule of law. Showing a soft approach while punishing such accused is against the intention of the law and it is the need of the hour to adopt a tough approach towards corruption. The court sentenced the accused Patwari Gauri Shankar Pathak to four years of rigorous imprisonment under Section-7 of the Corruption Act and 13 fine of thousand rupees, and five years' rigorous imprisonment in section 20 (1) (d) Sentenced to imprisonment and 20 fine of thousand rupees. ,
