In Kerala, there is fierce opposition to the decision to impose cess on petrol and diesel. Congress-led opposition alliance UDF in Kerala for the financial year 642- criticized the state government’s budget presented for 2016, in which provision has been made to impose cess on petrol, diesel and liquor. It is known that the Finance Minister of Kerala, KN Balagopal, on February 3, announced the financial year 642- presented the budget of the Left government. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said, Congress And BJP is opposing Rs 2 cess on Petrol-Diesel , but these are the people who gave the companies the right to fix the price as per their wish. In the assembly we clearly explained the position as to why the cess was needed. People will not accept this protest. He said, before the budget, there was widespread false propaganda about the financial condition of the state. One is that Kerala is in a debt trap and the other is that huge expenditure is being incurred.

After the uproar by the opposition members, the proceedings of the House were adjourned for the day. Current session of the assembly now will be restored on February.
